18 months

On September 28th Ashlyn officially hit her 18 month mark.  And OH what a year and a half it has been.  She had developed into quite a little lady and sometimes a little monster!  ;)  I say that because she is too stinkin smart for her own good. 

Her 18 month checkup went very well.  She is a heathly girl at  21.5 pounds, in the 10th percentile for the second time in a row Yay! and over 32 inches tall.  No more weight checks and no more shots until she receives her annual flu shot next year. We are very lucky to have such a healthy baby girl.  
Ashlyn's doctor visit was actually a pleasant one.  She was so nervous and cried most of the appointment last time that this visit made me even more nervous.  I think playing with the other children in the waiting room helped calm her nerves (mine too!)  This was the first time she got to stand on the big girl scale, she stood very still as I stood in shock that she was not taking this advantage to make a dash toward the front door.  She is developing right on schedule physically and verbally she is ahead of her peers.  The doctor asked us if she was speaking 15-20 words yet.  I asked in what time frame?  Off the top of my head I could think of over 30 words.  Not only was she (the doctor shocked) but right then, Ashlyn chimed in with one of her three word sentences.  She was impressed that she was speaking so clearly. 

Ashlyn's speaking is a blessing most of the time, she tells us what she wants when she wants it.  Which is nice that we don't have to guess anymore what she wants.  She can communicate when she is tired, has a dirty diaper (most of the time), needs something to drink or eat, when she wants to play (inside or outside), and when she wants the dogs to come or go.  My favorite line of them all is "mommy hold you"  It's hard to resist that cute face! 

Just this morning she pointed at the moon in the sky and said "moon, bye moon."  Every other morning she has called the moon an airplane.  I was very impressed at a very early 6am! 

Some of Ashlyn's favorites, is playing "mommy" with her baby, trying on shoes, playing with bubbles, jumping off steps while counting to three, visiting family and friends, but her latest obsession is with Papa, (my dad)  She has formed this bond with my dad in the last few weeks and now everytime we visit my parents house it's "where's papa, papa outside?"  "Papa, hold you" "Papa, outside?"
I think it is because he gives into her every wish!  Just like a grandpa should!  hehe ;)
