1 Year Doctor Visit...Weigh In

So two days after Ashlyn turned 1, she had her 12 mos doctor appt. All day long I was so nervous...not because Ashlyn was getting shots but because we had another weigh-in. Before Ashlyn arrived at the doctor's office, we made sure that she ate a snack and milk to wash it down with, in the car ride to the appointment. Our goal for the doctor's visit was 18 pounds, she weighed in at 17 pounds 15.5 oz. The nice nurse put down 18 pounds in the records though! You should have seen Derek and me in the doctor's office duing the weight-check. You would have thought we won the lottery! So hilarious. It's a good thing Ashlyn's not embarrased by us yet! The rest of the office visit went very well. The doctor was impressed with the progress she has made with weight not to mention the milestones she has accomplished in her one year of life. Ashlyn proceeded to talk the doctor's ear off during the whole visit, but you can tell she didn't mind one bit.

At the end of the visit, it was time for Ashlyn's shots...the worst part for any parent! It was the first time she was getting a shot in the arm. Poor thing. I made Derek hold her this time. She got a shot in each leg and thenthe arm. Ashlyn was not happy about the arm one! It took her about 30 seconds to calm down then it was all waves to everybody in the office.

Overall, it was a successful visit! Next appointment, June 30 and weight goal will be 20 pounds.

I can't wait until she is 20 pounds, then she can be forward facing in the car! Cross your fingers!

When we got home, Ashlyn was in better spirits. (could it be because of all the fun toys she just received?!?!) I had to take some pictures of Ashlyn with three shiny band-aids covering her body. It's so sad but it's so funny! Poor Things! I love this kid!
