At the end of July we left town/state for our first family vacation to San Diego, Coronado Island to be exact! At least for one week we were able to take a break from the heat!(if you are an Arizonan or have visited Arizona in the Monsoon season you know that all you want to do is leave or stay indoors)
We stayed fairly busy while we were there but we mostly wanted to make the trip about relaxation and getting back in touch with the family! Wanting to be near a great beach, we choose to stay at the Hotel Del Coronado! This hotel is beautiful and the beach is one of the best beaches I have ever visited! There is so much history but it is kept up beautifully!
The first night we arrived we had just enough sunlight to check out the beach! This was Ashlyn's first time seeing the ocean and walking on sand (keep in mind that when it's over 115 degrees outside, we don't venture to parks very often). She was a little apprehensive (even a little terrified)to the roaring ocean waves and the sand that stuck to her toes.
But after some time in the sand she was okay with walking, playing, and (Oh Yes) eating the sand. The next day, she even decided to venture into the ocean, a little!
Her favorite activity in the sand is digging holes and sitting in them. Naturally she had help digging holes from her daddy and Uncle Brent!
However, I would have to say Ashlyn's favorite activity on the beach was pointing out the seagulls as they flew by. She insisted on calling them 'doggies'. They were definitely big enough to be a small dog's size!
